My programming skills end with HTML, so I'm way off my game on this one. I do have an extremely neat idea that could help a lot of people though.
Mac OS X has a built in magnifier. Its awesome (for people with partial blindness or when you just want to make something bigger), just hold down the control key and scroll up. Alternatively you can hold option + command + press 8, then use option + command + the plus or minus keys to zoom in or out. The major flaw is that when multiple displays are connected, they share the same zoom state and position. This is a real hassle, because it means that only one display can actually be functional at a time. It would be really cool if someone could write a hack that enabled independent zooming for each display.
Ideally, there would be means of locking the currently zoomed section of the screen when moving the cursor to another display (a key combo). I have lots more ideas about this concept, so if you're willing to take a crack at it please keep me updated or feel free to ask me questions.
