Hi folks,

This seems like a far less judgmental and obnoxious place to ask this kind of thing than any of the Apple Subreddits so I figured I'd try my luck.

My dad is approaching eighty. He is very sharp, but he is NOT tech-savvy at all. He never has been. He took a computer class in the nineties and fell hopelessly behind in the classroom because he could not find the "Any" key on the keyboard. Tech stuff just does not register to him, conceptually.

After a very long time, we've finally got him using iOS 18 with some degree of competence, though he still finds a lot of things to be very frustrating and gets confused sometimes. His iPhone 11 is on its last legs, and we are planning to upgrade him to a 16e. This is going to require him to re-learn everything over, as many things that he does by muscle memory have now moved or changed in iOS 26.

We are going to have him take another one of those "iPhone for beginners" classes at the Apple Store, but he'd like something to reference after the fact.

So, I am looking for a written guide - a book or something I can print out - that he can reference for the absolute basics on how his phone works - how to send texts and images, make phone calls, check voice mails and emails, "Find My," etc, that is current for iOS 26. I am looking for something geared towards a COMPLETE BEGINNER, like a straight-up "for Dummies" book, except that the most recent version of iPhone For Dummies only covers iOS 17 (and the iOS 26 version doesn't come out until mid-December).

Does anyone happen to know of something like this?

Thank you!

Since you’re looking for something that can be printed, have you tried Apple’s own user manual? You can use the table of contents to pick the topic and print out that section.

I did consider this, and may do so if we can't come up with another solution. Should have mentioned that from the jump. Thanks!

I did a search for “iOS 26 for seniors manual” and a there’s at least two on Amazon.
Yeah, one's got a 1-star review and the other only has fake reviews. I might just wait for the "for dummies" to drop or print stuff off the website for him. Thanks for taking the time to look!
