I have a 2008 White Plastic MacBook. I don't want to shell out for a new laptop since there isn't anything inherently wrong with it, but I would like to speed it up. I just have a few questions about upgrading it.

Is there a real difference between Intel and something like Kingston? Intel's drives cost more for the same capacity. What advantages aside from being Intel branded do they have?

Does is matter if I buy from NewEgg or OWC or somewhere else? Are there maybe good deals to be had at other places?

Can I get any use out of the old hard drive? Maybe use it as an external with a housing or something? Or can I sell that or my old RAM?

Thanks so much in advance for the help.
