Looking for DC-powered iPod speakers

I am giving an iPod to a friend who lives off the grid with only solar DC power , and want to give him some speakers he can plug into a DC receptacle without using disposable batteries. Does anybody know of any DC-powered speakers for iPod? I will resort to rechargeable AA batteries if necessary...

This is an intriguing setup - the house is completely powered by DC, and no AC power at all? If so, I'd be interested to see how power to the house is generated and distributed.

Since you mentioned rechargeable batteries, I've seen rechargeable speakers available from the likes of Brookstone etc., but on a side note - with no AC power, how would you recharge the batteries?
