Looking for details on Safari and Watch interaction

If I go to Safari => Preferences => Passwords, my watch vibrates and I can unlock it via my watch.

I think that has happened some times when I go to a web site asking for a password... But most of the time, I need to use the touch-id on the Mac's keyboard.

Is there something I have misadjusted? I'd much rather double click my watch than reach up and use the touch-id.

I'm on the latest of everything I'm pretty sure.
