Any ideas where I can find the VRM upgrade and a CPU upgrade for my G4 Cube.

eBay or the end of the rainbow. Either way, they aren't plentiful nor cheap. Not all require a VRM upgrade. I have a 1.6GHz card in mine I found from a German seller and that runs fine from the stock VRM since it is a single core. Dual cores would require a custom VRM, though.

Are you interested in selling your 1.6 cpu?

There are quite a few that don't need the VRM, as @weckart said.

I have a Sonnet 800mhz, PowerLogix 1.5ghz, and Sonnet 1.8ghz. All work with the stock VRM, although the 1.6ghz Sonnet and PowerLogix both included base fans(although I didn't install either upgrade myself). The 800mhz Sonnet uses the stock heatsink, and I added a base fan.

I have two upgrade cubes as well. Both were purchased on eBay. Dual 500 MHz that’s a daily driver with a Geforce 6200 gpu. Another one with a dual 1.8 GHz with custom VRM, base fan and 6200 as well, which is a monster. The dual 500 is plenty fast on tiger.

Definitely worth it to wait and find something that’s good quality. But then again that’s part of the rush and fun of collecting powerpcs. :D:apple:

I've seen someone currently selling one with a Sonnet 1.4 GHz, RAM 1.5 G, HDD 320 Go ( 3 partitions), ATI Radeon 9600 DVI, Apple keyboard & Magic mouse, and Apple Display HD DVI.
It's in Europe though. First I've seen with this spec for well over a year.

are you sure that it has a Radeon 9600 installed? the PowerMac G4 cube has a 2X AGP slot where as the Radeon 9600 is only AGP4X and 8X compatible so sadly does not work in a G4 cube (as otherwise the Radeon 9600 would of made for a very good Cube card)

Good question, and not sure of the answer as I was quoting specs from the ad. I'll try and contact the seller and get confirmation.

That would be me, but it's already on hold.
Wow, that's a kind of a unicorn ... and obviously a steaming monster, when I looking at the cooling stuff!

Looks like exactly the same heatsink I have with my Sonnet ST 1GHz. That CPU has just gone on the fritz recently.

@ZacharyFurgeson Are you still looking for such a card? Mine might become available again. I would ask $200 for it, plus $30 for signed shipping to the US, and take PayPal as the payment option. PM me if you are interested.

I’d move on this right away if it’s still available. The website it was listed on is down. Hopefully I get some response or will wait for the site to regain functionality. This is for the Encore ST 1.8Ghz that fits Mac Cube. -Zak
