Hello!

I am looking to purchase a new laptop for myself. I own a 27" iMac from late 2010 that I use for audio work and as my primary machine. I also own an 11" MacBook Air, but I am giving it to my wife who is in nursing school.

This leaves me with the need for a new laptop. I loved the 11", but I am wanting a bit more power!

I have looked into it and arrived at the general consensus that the rmbp 13 is not worth the money. This initially ruled it out, but with the sale at Frys going on, it puts is right back into the discussion. http://www.frys.com/product/7378634

The other option I am looking at is a cmbp 13 from B&H. I'd also purchase 16 gigs of RAM and a 256 GB Samsung 830 from Newegg. The total on this will still be less than the on-sale retina by a few hundred dollars.

That leads me to the question; which to get? I've been an Apple loyal for years and I certainly love 'new' stuff so the Retina is an attractive option, but I want to have a reliable device that will last me several years. Is the Retina display going to be a worthy upgrade, or is it going to slow the computer down because the 'guts' are basically the same in both computers.

I really appreciate your input!! Thank you!
