I have been pretty happy with the Omoton adjustable table stand from Amazon for $10.99

Something like this? I have a similar one from Amazon basics but I can't find it right now.

Or perhaps something more "aesthetically pleasing" like this or this.

Yes the last link looks perfect. But, it’s unavailable.

Thanks. Really looking for something like the small lucite holders the they use to use in the apple store..Doesn't have to be lucite

This one looks solid, in fact, I've almost scored it a few times, minimal, inexpensive, claims to be for 11" or smaller, but honestly I'm sure even a 12.9 3rd gen would fit (I stuck mine on a super small Lamicoll phone stand and it was reasonably stable.

I was going through this exact same process recently! I found two stands, bought them both and like them for different reasons.

This one has a notch to stand the iPad up, very stable and minimal, got it at my local Container Store.

This one is EXACTLY like what they have in the Apple stores. I love the look, it‘s solid lucite. Took a few weeks to get here from China, and I know the eBay store is a little sketchy, but it’s perfect.

Hope that helps!

I have these, and since they fold flat, they are great for traveling.

Have a woodworking friend with a router? Use a nice piece of hardwood.

I don't think the original poster was very clear. So I and others thought they meant small stands that they can easily transport and have the smallest footprint. It seems the OP preferred the clear acrylic stands that are at Apple stores, which aren't considered minimal by many or the best for travel. As someone pointed out, they can easily get those at the ( provided they are in the U.S. ) Container Store.

I had mentioned my using the stand a couple of years ago, and could have mentioned that if I understood the posting correctly

That woodworking block is truly minimal & nice. 😉

I do like that setup you have with the kb distanced from the screen like that... especially since can jack up the font if needed. When I used a desktop I always had the keyboard way forward of the screen. Before I trashed my internal kb on the 2010 MBP Iused to use the magic kb anyway sometimes, just parked the laptop on a coffee table and the kb ended up balanced on my leg with me lounging on the couch.

I use the same keyboard with my iPad Pro 11' when I don't want to deal with my MBP. It's actually quite usable - I use it to post here a lot, journal in Day One, and write emails. I have a rubberized tiny lap desk that works really well when I don't want to sit at the desk.
