I am looking for an enclosure that will allow me to put at least three 3.5" hard drives. Four 3.5" hard drives would be nice. I don't want or need RAID. I want the HDDs to be independent and connected directly to my MacPro. This means it would also need to be quiet. Anyone using anything that fits this description? I am trying to consolidate my wire mess and these BlacX Duo docking stations are convenient but keep going bad every 6 months or so.

As far as quiet goes, I know that can be very subjective. I use Mounter and normally have only hard drive mounted. The others are just backups and are mounted when needed via Mounter. It would also be under my desk so not on top of the desk next to my MP.

TIA

I bought a newer USB3-only version of my quad-interface box, and it might be slower, so I stopped using it when I got the TB2 version.

Thank you cube. I am looking to get away from that style all together. While convenient I have went through several brands including Newer. I am not sure why.

I am looking at the OWC ThunderBay. It is not ideal because I am sure after I make this purchase I will be upgrading from this MP to the next upgrade (iMac/MP) which will have USB-C and no TB2.

I bought the Thunderbolt 2 version of the OWC ThunderBay 4 and I am quite happy with it. I do wish OWC had a Thunderbolt 3 version so I didn't have to use an adapter cable but it works perfectly.

Thanks sidewinder. I have one of the older models with FW800 and USB 2. It was loud. I used it in RAID format. I am hoping this one behaves better with only one drive running. I'm like you, bring on TB3 so we can get the change over with. Would much rather purchase a dongle today than an entirely new enclosure later.
