I'm looking for a music app that will scan my iphone library and notify me of upcoming album releases for the artists that are in there. Something that works similarly to bandsintown or local concerts for gig notifcations would be ideal, doesn't have to be a free app.

Any recommendations?

Hey guys,

this is exactly what we released a few days ago. Check out our App "Nomis" on the AppStore. Nomis reminds you for new releases of all your artists.

I hope you enjoy it! If you like it, please rate it. We currently have it for 79cents on the Store, so hurry up.

While that looks nice, personally I already track my favorite artists, have alerts in iTunes, etc set up and so on.

I was getting a weekly email from AllMusic ... and even THAT was only 'decent' in terms of coverage. My fave genre is jazz, so many releases are 'minor' (to say the least) and I have yet to find a single website to deal with that, let alone an app!

We are currently supporting the whole iTunes-Catalogue. We know that some less known artists aren't on iTunes but we are trying to get the best results for the user. This means we will probably add other sources like amazon to get also these releases to you in future.

We try to get Nomis to be the best release reminder out there and we are happy to get supported.

Cool - not trying to put down your product in any way, apologize if it came across that way.

I was suggesting a different - and much more difficult - need. I regularly discover new music by looking through the AllMusic or AllAboutJazz release lists - sometimes stuff by folks not currently in my iTunes library.

I use iConcert Cal. It isn't an iphone app but it works on iCalendar and searches all the artists in your library and gives you the option to include or exclude certain artists. It also displays concerts in your area. I love it but I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for.
