I am currently Jailbroken on 4.1 and I have all my SHSH's saved via TinyUmbrella. I only really use the Jailbreak for MyWi and Sb settings.

Both things I could probably live without. But MyWi is pretty handy in the very occasional pinch.

Question 1: With the current news on the state of the 4.2.1 JB. Can I go ahead and upgrade and be able to JB later? I can do without MyWi and SB settings for a few days.

Question 2: Is there any drawback to Restoring and updating my iPhone 4 software to stock 4.2.1 and use my backup from my previous jailbroken 4.1?

If you have your shsh's you can update and then downgrade again to 4.1 if you need to.
Not sure what model iphone you have but if you update to official 4.2 you might lose the ability to unlock your baseband.
Other than that the beauty of saved shsh blobs is that you can go back and forth any time you want.
