My dad has asked me to make a website for him, which will showcase and have information about his dental office. I have done numerous google searches and have found very little that catches my eye and is even somewhat relevant. If anyone knows of some great designed pages to inspire me, I would greatly appreciate it.

When I look for design ideas, I will often take a peek at some of the templates on Template Monster for some cool looking layouts. Of course I don't nearly have the skills to actually produce something of such quality, but it shows me what can be done.

Totally unrelated, 500th post! :D

Design comes second

Before you come up with a Web design, come up with your content. After all, the Web is not about cool presentation but the information contained within.

If you come up with the design and navigation structures first, you'll likely find you end up having to force the information to fit the wrapper. And that's no good -- square peg, round hole.

Once you have the information fleshed out, then group the pieces by content and decide which are most important. You're design should be fleshing itself out in your mind automatically by this stage of the process.

Last tip: Choose soothing, cool colors. Dentists cause anxiety for some, and oranges, reds and yellows won't help alleviate those tensions.

I know this isn't the quick fix for designer's block you were looking for, but hopefully it will help.

Very, very true ;-)
Don't get me wrong, but I don't like those heavy to load sites, which are, at least in my eyes somekind of a burden to the network.
Also it is not the best example I guess :p check out http://bob.hentges.lu

Like what was said above, you need to have a plan/outline of what you want to do before you start.

So you have your dad's office, what sort of things you going to put up there?

Also, what are you building the site with?

As a business, you're somewhat limited to what you can do. Anyone going to the site is more than likely trying to get a telephone or contact information - maybe pics of the facilities and employees and general background on what they can do.

Keep it simple and clean.

Good luck,

D
