Hi long story short I am involved in a video production class. We have the computing power, space, and camera equipment to shot full 1080p widescreen but instead we are shooting fullscreen standard def. I have asked him for even just widescreen standard def but he believes that most people in the US still don't have widescreen (I don't care about weather its HD or not). I can't find statistics one way or the other on this matter I have searched up and down on google. I was wondering if someone could tell me the percentage of people in the US that use widescreen (HD or not) and provide a link for verification.

I think that if I can prove him otherwise we might switch. BTW I am a teachers aid in the class.

I have no idea on statistics, but from what I remember, shooting in full hd is incredibly expensive. Perhaps cost is a factor in his decision?

Well like I said I am not asking for HD just widescreen. Also We already own HD full 1080p Canon Prosumer cameras and have 6 loaded down iMacs to process them on.

All new TVs sold now will be HD so as people replace their older TVs the numbers will rise.
