screen size, etc will be buying from refurbished site- apple if they have it ..no real hurry thank you for keeping me from wasting a lot of time on useless time consuming and unneeded research----

I’d go with an iPhone 16 or 16 plus whenever they show up in the refurb store.

To be honest anything will be a huge upgrade from the 6s at this point.

Since you keep your devices for a very very long time... I would go with the latest and get the iPhone 17. You'd not only be getting the latest technology for future proofing, but probably the best value phone and most bang for your buck.

Imho, refurbished phones just don't offer enough of a discount to be worth it. Looking at the official apple refurb prices, an iphone 15 starts at $529. I think you'd be better off going with a brand new 16e, or even a 17.

Third party refurbs can be hit or miss. A lot of them have screens that the phone might not recognize as an apple product, which can create quite a mess.

You haven't given many specifics for what you need, so I'd say any iPhone 15, 16 or 17. Particularly the newer two if you want longevity.

iPhone 15 Pro Max - refurbished directly from Apple...I wouldn't bother with 16 and 17...I myself is waiting for a 128gb 15 Pro Max to show up on Apple's refurb website.

First, literally ANY iPhone you get is going to be a HUGE upgrade if you are coming from the 10 year old 6+.

But to match screen size you got the 15 plus, 16 plus, or even iPhone Air.

iPhone Air has better battery life, a better camera, better zoom (2x zoom and 10x digital zoom), since its way more megapixels the zoom will produce better quality.

It has the same size screen, but way thinner and more premium, more durable. It also feels way nicer in the hand.

The thinness is also a factor, the Air being 5.6mm and the 6S plus being 7.3mm.

Air! I love mine and I’m coming from a 13 mini.i bet you can find a good price on eBay or similar sites.

Outside the box suggestion: Google Pixel 9a.

Inexpensive and capable.
