Hi there, when it was clear that my trusted Series 0 wouldn‘t get watchOS 5, I was in for an upgrade. Now I know I‘ll settle for a 44mm GPS model.

Am I right that the Series 4 will have a 5 times performance jump over S0? Here‘s what I have calculated:

S0 to S2: +50 % faster, jump to dual-core
S2 to S3: +70 % faster
S3 to S4: up to 100 % faster, 64-bit
Performance baseline of 100*1,5 = 150
150*1,7 = 255
255*2 = 510

Going through the numbers, I noticed the possibility of a 5 times performance jump. Awesome - I was pretty satisfied with my S0 up until now so this will be nice, using apps and actually enjoying them. What about you - is more power something you look forward to?

Now that WOS5 has podcast support, been trying it a lot more with audio to AirPods. Series 2 is quite slow in dealing with them, and sometimes loses connectivity to pods.

Needs to be faster, and needs to have better wireless. Now S4 does have BT5 and a new W chip, will have to see what real difference these make.

The other issue is the horribly slow sync speeds for data on watch, I have a bad feeling that this isn't going to change much. Nothing at the event really indicated that the new watch would be becoming more autonomous, so this is either coming with next software or will be in a later hardware version. This is one of the main speed issues of the watch for me, lot of apps are still not even run locally on watch completely.

I'm still on the S0, and tbh, That's one temptation the 4 has over the 3 for me. Since I'm spending $$ for a new watch anyways, why not get the most current

But hasn‘t hardware independency been a requirement for watchOS 4 or so? Weird. About sync speeds: I‘m baffled how Wi-Fi syncing is so much faster, and Apple decides to go Bluetooth nonetheless! But yes, first reviews will be crucial. Might just do it myself once the Watch has arrived :)
