Looking to buy 2009 27" iMac

My friend is selling his 2009 27" iMac, The Core 2 Duo one, with the ATI HD Graphics. I know there is a model that came out the same year with the i5. Right now im running a Dual Core i5 on my MBP, I was wondering will the C2D give me any slow problems, will I feel like its slow? Ive heard only bad things about them, and that is the only thing keeping me away from that computer at the moment.
