Looking to buy a Mac Pro when Snow Leopard comes out, need tips.

I am majoring in Aeronautical Engineering and planning on getting my degree in about 3 years. In about 9 months I will need to buy a powerful enough computer to run some Engineering software ( TBA ) and have been looking at the Mac Pros. I am going to wait for the next update and plan on getting a 8-Core system with about 16gb of ram. I am wondering if any insiders know what the next big update will be after Snow Leopard comes out, if I should wait for the release or pick up this generation Mac Pro if and when they go on sale.

I need this computer to last me 5 years running Fluid Dynamics/mechanics simulations.

Im doing the same course and a 2.66Ghz 6Gb 4870 is MORE than enough... hell my MBP could do it
