Hi everyone!

I'm looking at buying a used Macbook Pro (Mid-2010) I found on Craigslist (asking price is $700).

15" Matte High Resolution Display (1680x1050)
2.53Ghz Intel "Core i5" Processor
8GB 1067Mhz DDr3 Memory
500GB 7200RPM Hard Drive
Nvidia GT330M Graphics Card
Has scratches on the outside (from photo)

This looks like a good deal to me, but what do you think?

I would start at $500 and grudgingly come up to $550.

While a good machine, it IS 4 years old and there are much newer models available for not much more.

For that matter, there are plenty of reports here of people stacking discounts and getting brand new machines starting under $600 (IIRC).

Wouldn't go over $500. Especially if you plan to add an SSD yourself which will be an additional expense. It's very dated tech and unless you really want that 15" screen, there's significantly better deals out there. You can get a refurbished base 2013 11" Air from Apple for ~$700 which is a much better computer in virtually every regard.

It's over priced, but more importantly if you agree to meet the seller do it in a public place (coffee shop, library, police station, etc).
