im looking to buy an iphone

i know i need an unlocked one ...

what about a jail broken one ...

i need that too ...

so if i bought a jail broken one off ebay ... will i be able like to update it when an update comes out ?

and if i got just an unlocked one ... will it be easy to jail break it my self ... i know its possible , but will it be too risky ?

1. If it's unlocked, it is jailbroken as well. No way around this.

2. Just buy one in store saying you'll activate it at home, and jailbreak it there. If that works.

Yes. However you will need to rejailbreak after updating.

Most likely if it is unlocked, it is also Jailbroken

1. Some iPhones, including mine, are unlocked but not Jailbroken.

2. Nope. You must have a contract with new iPhones. Best bet eBay or Craigslist.

To the OP:
I am warning you ,
Recently, I just purchased an unlocked iPhone off eBay, I ordered it December 22nd, and received it December 24th. I opened it up on December 25th. On December 26th, I noticed that the box was too scratched up to be considered new, so I checked both serial numbers on the iPhone and the Box. Turned out they were different so I entered them on Apple's warranty site. Turned out the box had been a replaced unit and was refurbished and not new. So What I am telling you is, if and when you buy your phone and you receive it, make sure to check the serial numbers you could have been sold a replaced unit.
