Anyone know of a site where I can buy a decent priced SSD drive for my macbook pro? (15" Early 2011)

ah! thank you ;P I was looking on there lastnight but couldnt find the right sub category for it.. Any idea what brand(s) I should keep in mind when it comes to SSD?

This might sound like a crazy idea, but did you consider looking at the "SSD buying guide" that's sticky in this forum, or at the 10 other threads that are currently on page 1 that discuss one or the other SSD?

SATA III used to be problematic, but mostly seems to work now.

honestly I didnt see that ;P but will now that I know about it lol.

Earlier I mentioned i had a early 2011.. but I actually have mid-late 2010. Will this effect my choice in SSD drives? do you think the 128mb Samsung 830 would work in my macbook? I checked the guide but this part was a little vague to me. Sorry if im being a newbie ;x

Yes, this affects your choice.

The 2010 models only offer SATA II ports. You can put a SATA III SSD in there, but it will only run at SATA II speeds, so there's no point spending extra money on a SATA III SSD. The SSD guide recommends Intel 320 SSDs for you.

It'll do just fine.

But, I do agree with Thunder.

I installed a SAMSUNG 470, 256GB SATA II SSD in my Mid 2010 15" MacBook Pro.

It's one of the fastest I've used so far. I began using SSD's in my various Mac & PC laptops a few years ago. Thus based on personal experience with several of different brands, for Macs this is an excellent drive. I've got lots of time on it, all trouble free.

Here's a link for you.

That drive will work great in your MBP.

For more information on SSD drives tomshardware and anandtech have great articles and reviews.
