So I'm looking to get a maxed out 17" MBP to replace my heavy bulky asus G73JH, but I'm wondering a few benchmarks for bootcamp, specifically the new release, Homefront. Anyone here happen to have it and would be able to give me some benchmarks? I have my desktop for most gameplay, but when traveling it's nice to be able to bring some entertainment. Now from what iv seen in GPU benches the HD6750M is 4% behind the HD5870M in my asus, but logically that isn't much difference right? 4% is worth loosing 3 pounds, and gaining 6:30 if battery life.

Well, if you REALLY want a 17" laptop, then yes, it's well worth it, especially the new Sandy-Bridge ones. Beasts they are, speed they have.
The HD6750M would serve a casual gamer very well, if not decently. Gaming with higher graphics, or gaming for longer is your dillema. And the graphics
difference would only be marginal. If you don't necessarily want a 17" laptop, you could get an equivalently spec'd 15", which would be slightly lighter, but it would also have a slightly lower resolution.

I like my 17" but if gaming is the priority for the laptop, the 15" high-end model has the same processor and video card but fewer pixels to run (even on the high-res version).

Looking at some gaming benchmarks on notebookcheck.net shows the 5870m is roughly 50% faster than the 6750m.

So... Probably won't max Homefront to well?

If you're looking to get a MBP specifically for gaming then I would have to say it wouldn't be money well spent. I am not sure what else you planning on using it for though.

That's not my intent, especially since it's replacing a G73JH, it's mainly for scholastic reasons. But when I travel gaming is always nice, I guess steamgames for Mac will suffice.
