I was wondering if anyone knew other places than eBay and Craigslist to get my hands on a broken/demo(nonworking, just shell) versions of the Magic Mouse. I'm working on an internal lighting mod, but don't want to sabotage my own working mouse, yet it's been nearly a week I've trolled eBay and craigslist but have not come with any hits. I'm looking to spend under 15-20 for a unit, and as I'm obviously not qualified for the Marketplace, I'm unable to inquire over there.
Therefore, I'm looking for some helpful tips to get me started on where else to look...

Do you think if I went to an apple store and asked for a broken unit..?

As for the mod itself-

Basically my goal is to insert an LED under the handrest, in the tiny recess behind the battery pack and under the apple logo. After dissecting a small flashlight, the unit would be controlled by an on/off button drilled and fitted into the lower left side of the mouse, or wherever I can find space to insert the unit without completely destroying the mouse's integrity. Batteries (I'm planning on AG13, 4x) would be loaded via removing one AA battery, exposing a part of the plastic that I've hewn out. I'd be making a small plastic holder (and a plastic tube for the batteries for easier insertion) to plug in the batteries and keep them from banging around inside.
The particular setup I have will use components from a tiny flashlight using AG13 batteries. Testing the light I'm going to use, I've averaged ~70 hours of continuous light. Alternatively, I may just take apart a photon light for simplicity's sake. But seeing how a 50 pack of AG13 batteries costs only 5 dollars via DealExtreme, I think it's not a bad investment. If the mod goes properly, that is :p

So yes- seeing how I'm not particularly good at this (the most I've done is add a touchscreen to my asus eee 900ha Hackintosh, and modify some nerf guns) stuff, I'd much rather destroy a broken magic mouse and lose ~20 dollars rather than the one my girlfriend has given me.

If anyone else who's more experienced and that has the materials would like to give this a try, please let me know the results.
