looking to purchase an external blu ray burner for MacBook Air

I have a 2020 MacBook Air with an external blu ray burner, that the cable is micro usb to 2 regular usb.
and when I plug it into my usb hub, and put in a blank blu ray, the drive will just constantly open.


so I am looking for an external blu ray burner that using a single usb c cable.

any recommendations?

You may need to buy one of "the larger" drives -- one with its own power supply. These come in a good-sized external enclosure with their own power blocks.

Some of the smaller drives require more power than can be delivered via a single USB connection -- hence, the 2-pronged "Y" cable that can be problematic.

I would also suggest you get one that has "M-DISC" capabilities, as well (shouldn't add anything to the price).

I never heard of the M-Disc, I will need to look it up.


also I was able to get the drive working by using a single mini usb, to regular usb, and add a usb ti usb c adapter and my MacBook was able to read the disc, but I it won't read a blank disc, when I put in a blank disc, it appears to read it then it ejects it.

Edit: sorry you said you wanted USB-C. I’ll check and see if it includes that. Might not be what you’re looking for.
