Love this monitor but it is getting a bit old

and now with my 15” MBP that I got last year, it is a pain to hook up

not really sure what to look for.
Seeing how it is amazon prime day, I thought I could get a deal

Was looking at LG 27” 4K monitors but there are a lot to choose from, not sure what would be the best to get

thanks for any suggestions

Do you know what kind of image quality you are looking for and do you have a rough budget? Are you looking for a display with a hub and/or USB-C charging? LG makes some very nice products and they have a handful of 4K models that are extremely well-liked. I am a very big fan of Dell's UltraSharp line and the panel consistency they deliver. Dell's U2720Q is also an outstanding 27-inch 4K display that might also be worth consideration, as it is bright, is able to supply the full charge power for the 15-inch MacBook Pro, has knockdown color accuracy (arguably good enough to be used as an entry level prosumer display), and a good hub/stand. The price is a bit on the high side but they are extremely high-quality displays. (Right now I am using two of the 25-inch QHD siblings in the same product family and I am delighted with them. The 4K 27-inch looks even better.)

I was looking at around 500
Can go higher but may have to wait a few mont

better image quality may be nice though I am guessing that I won’t get to retina matching resolution though

I don’t need usb-c charging, just need the usb-c connection to the mac

If you want 4k, I'd suggest a 4k 27" display. I don't care for LG stuff, but that's a personal preference (the only LG product I ever owned -- a tv -- failed not long after the warranty expired and could not be repaired).

If you'd like a LOT of screen real estate, you might consider a 32" 1440p "QHD" display (which is NOT 4k).

A list which might help a little in your search:
