My MPB:
- 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo
- 17" High Res | Matt Screen
- 2GB Mememory
- 160GB 7200rpm HD
Originally purchased as my one and only, all encompassing computer for: photo, video and music editing (Photoshop, Premiere and Bias PeakPro), music listening, internet and work related tasks done via the Office Suite for Mac.
I recently took delivery of a 24" iMac | 2.93GHz Core 2 Duo | 4GB Memory | 600GB 7200rpm HD. Now a large chunk of my tasks above are completed on the iMac; thinking to downsizing my 17" to a commuter machine to keep my schedule, perform some work related tasks, music listening, some music editing, movie watching..etc on the bus/train.
Looking to get the either the 2.66GHz or 2.8GHz 15" Stock MBP
What I like about my 17" MBP
- The look and feel of those killer silver keys.
- Size of desktop footprint
- The look of the high res matt display
- Still pretty darn fast
- Satisfies most needs
- 2.5 years left on Apple Care warrantee
What I dislike about my 17" MBP
- Hate the closing/locking mechanism (display bows at top center - have had 2 replacements already)
- Too big for a commuter machine
- Running low on disk Space
Concerns about switching to stock 15" MBP
- 15" glossy display vs. matt high res display
- Size of desktop footprint
- 5400rpm drive vs. 7200 rpm drive (not looking to do custom order)
- Look and feel of the keyboard
Just looking to hear some thoughts, suggestions and experiences others have had. Reasons to or not to make the move.
Thanks!
