So for all the reports about scratches to the new iPhone 17 Pro models, it looks like one area where the Aluminum unibody of the new 17 Pro is performing quite well is when being dropped onto the ground.

This video shows several drops of both phones from various heights and while the Titanium frame of the 16 Pro handles dents and scratches a bit better than the 17 Pro, it is much more susceptible to screen damage and the glass on the back breaking than the new iPhone 17 Pro .

Even the new camera lenses on the 17 Pro seems to hold up better.

Anyway after several drops the iPhone 17 Pro screen never shattered, whereas the 16 Pro shattered after only two drops.

However it is clear that one area where the 17 Pro is going to see issues is with more dents and dings to its aluminum frame as compared to the titanium frame of the 16 Pro.

Durability isn’t only how much it takes to shatter it but how much it takes to show wear or scuffs as well. Looking at the video the 17 Pro seems less durable than the 16 Pro, as expected when using aluminium instead of titanium.
