Hi there,

I'm trying to record some guitars on garageband using my Apogee One and I have the rhythm section written and recorded. I was wondering if it was possible to loop that specific section so it plays continuously until I stop it while I write a lead guitar section over the top of it?

Similar idea to the pedals you can buy that record your guitar and loop it while you play on top of it.

If this isn't possible in Gargeband what other software is capable of doing this?

Cheers,
Max

the simple way is to export that part and just loop it in itunes till you come up with something... ill dig around in GB and see if i can find a solution though

It sounds like you just need to use the Cycle Region button (to the right of the play button at the bottom of the Garageband window).

This turns on an extra 'track' at the top of the window that lets you select however much of the song you want to go on in an endless loop, marked out in yellow - you just drag from the left to right in this narrow 'track'.

So then if you hit play it will cycle round and round for as long as you want.

What is great is that when you come to record a new part you can keep playing and it'll keep all the takes, so when you stop you'll see a small number in the audio region that is a clickable list of all the takes. You can then discard the bad takes and if you have a couple of good ones keep those, or copy one to paste later in the song.
