Loose Connection w/ Earbuds & iPhone 5

Just as the title reads. When I go to plug the earbud connector into the jack on the bottom of the iPhone the connection is loose. It does not snuggly fit into the jack. I only get sound out of the left earbud when I press the inserted connector just to get just enough of a connection to hear something. The connector falls out of the jack with very little effort. The earbuds seem to fit snuggly and work fine on my laptop. Is this a defect with my iPhone 5? Has anybody else experienced this issue?
