Hi, I recently bought a docking alarm clock to use with my iPod Touch 3G. The clock is an XtremeMac Luna Voyager. The problem I'm having is that the iPod won't make an electrical connection with the clock's dock connector unless I push down hard on the iPod. Sometimes letting go breaks the connection, and sometimes wiggling the iPod very slightly will break the connection. I removed the Touch's case, but that didn't make a difference.

To compare, I docked a Nano 6G to the clock, and it works fine. In fact, it makes a connection when the Nano gets about 2/3 of the way down onto the connector. It also seems a lot more solid when perched on the connector than the Touch, but I'm not sure if that's due merely to the Touch's greater weight and leverage.

There are no problems getting a connection when plugging a USB dock connector cable into the Touch, and there are no connection problems with an older XtremeMac Luna clock that we have. I examined the dock connector on the clock and it seems fine; the length of the blade is about the same as the one on a USB cable.

So I can't tell if my iPod's dock connector is loose because something is wrong, if it's loose but functioning to specifications for that model iPod, or if the connector is fine but something is funky with the clock's dock connector. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? How tight should this model iPod be when docked? How far down must they usually be pressed before they make an electrical connection?

Thanks!
