I have been meaning to get myself a USB-C magsafe adaptor for ages then the other day while I was working in an armchair I got up and the USB cable was around my foot. So I ended up pulling the cable out of my 2017 Macbook 12". Luckily it didn't come crashing to the ground but since this my cable is loose in the port and will occasionally come unplugged just from the weight of the USB cable.
I have done much googling about loose USB ports but the main discussion is about dirt / lint which is not the problem in my case.
I was going to replace the port (obviously only the inner part due to to the unibody). When I looked at the part I need I noticed a tab on the socket jack (see attached photo).
To me it looks like it could be bent somewhat (up or down??) to help hold the USB plug.
Has anyone had any experience with this?

Also if anyone knows how to add a REPAIR tag to this post let me know so I can increase visibility
