Loosening iPad 2 Dock's grip so that it works like the iPhone dock.

Any ideas as to why the new dock grips so tightly that I have to use two hands to separate the two? I thought it would work like my iPhone dock and just pick the phone/iPad up and the dock would stay on the desk.

Will it loosen over time or is there a way to make it not grip so hard.
