iPhone Losing access to single player games on iOS / Mac

I just found out that a game I bought (Bloodstained) no longer works because the authentication server was shut down. I was surprised since this was a single-player premium purchase. As far as I know, I've never lost a purchase on any other platform. This is the fourth game that I've lost that was purchased through the iOS or Mac app store. Is this a common thing with Apple?
