I have sort of a silly question....

I've been putting off on updating my 2nd gen ipod to the new IOS 4.0 software for a very long time because I'm worried about losing data.

The message says right before I update it, that everything will be wiped out and so forth.

I understand that I am able to restore everything and I sync my Ipod every time I plug it into the computer. So how do I put everything back on my ipod after I update the software to the IOS 4.0 version?

Also, the main thing I'm worried about is the app data. I know that I will get the apps back but will the data come back with it? For example, say with my angry birds app I'm like half way through the game. After I update to the new software, will my data still be there or will I have to start the game all over again?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help, I appreciate it!
