Hi all,

In Lion, when I ran out of battery and powered back on I would get a white screen with loading bars and everything would be restored back to normal after a few seconds. Yesterday I ran out of battery in mavericks and the thing had lost the logic file I was working on along with all the other stuff I had open! It kind of restarted back to a blank desktop.

This is so unacceptable, is there a setting I can switch to get back the old behaviour?

Thanks heaps

Try to Reset your NVRAM to see if that helps.

Cheers but I can't seem to get it to work. the grey screen comes up instantly and when I hold those keys down an icon with a padlock comes up and I get what appears to be some restore setting thing, it doesn't restart again. Any thoughts?

All good turned firmware password off, now to run it out of batt and see if it worked

1) Insert into Terminal:
Code:
pmset -g | grep hibernatemode
¨
2) if output is zero, then pmset hibernatemode 3

Could the OP's battery need recalibration? I'm wondering if it is running out of power before the Mac thinks it should (i.e., trigger point for hibernate).
