Losing WiFi connection on iMac when iPhone is also on WiFi

So something strange is going on...
My iMac gets its internet signal from the router I have setup (netgear).
Lately, whenever I connect my iPhone to the WiFi, the internet on my iMac is unresponsive until I stop using the WiFi on my phone.

Any one have any idea what might be going on here?
I've tried unplugging the router, modem.
