I lost a Airpod and Apple wants $80 (includes $10 for shipping and taxes) to ship me a new one. Seems exorbitant since that would put the value of the charging case at $20! I bet they won’t charge that when the new wireless charging case comes out. Should I fork over the cash for a replacement or just get a new pair altogether?

My 2 cents FWIW - depends on when you purchased - If they were fairly new it makes sense to buy it $80 and move on - if they were over a year old maybe buy a complete new set and have a spare?

The jury is still out on how long the batteries will last.

Yeah they’re almost a year old. Didn’t even think about that!

If you don’t mind cramming some strangers ear wax deep inside your ear canal. Lol
Exactly. I would never buy something like this used.

I'm thinking if I ever lose one, I will just buy a new pair and I'll a spare whatever one I didn't lose plus the case.

I've had my AirPods for three weeks now. I've been using them every day when I go out and walk. Just got back from my walk (It's warmer at midnight then it will be later today) and used my AirPods as usual. Got attacked by a low hanging branch and it knocked my left AirPods out of my ear. It landed right next to me and I picked it up and continued my walk.

Ordered my AirPods in 2016 but didn't take delivery until February of this year. 11 months and haven't had a loss yet. I have taken them on dozens of trips including a few international. I use them every day for my meetings and pretty much any call...

i think i'm one of the lucky ones who has no problem with them fitting inside my ears.

Thanks for all the feedback. Considering the battery and the perk of having a case and a left airpod spare, I think I’ll just get a new pair.
