I unpaired my watch from my phone because I was swapping to a new one. It said "Unpairing unsuccessful" and to reset the watch manually. So I did, did an iCloud backup from my phone, and then erased all content and settings on that one. Went to the new phone, did an iCloud restore, paired my Apple Watch with the backup it made that day (even though it said it was unsuccessful, it looked like it had a backup of the watch).

Anyway, I am now missing half my achievement badges including most of my special ones. It looks like activity was lost for the last week. I let it restore over night, same thing. I am now restoring my watch to an earlier backup which I know has all the badges. I thought these achievements were supposed to be backed up to the cloud. Any ideas on what I should try? Should I try restoring the phone again back to an iCloud backup? Thank you.

I don’t believe health data is backed up as part of an iCloud backup any more in iOS 11. There is now an option in ‘Settings|iCloud’ to store your health data in iCloud instead.

The only way to backup your health data is to do an encrypted iTunes backup.

Oh okay, thanks. I had the option ticked for iCloud to store the health data. Could it just be it's taking a long time to restore all my progress/achievements? This is the first time I've done a restore on a new phone and the achievements weren't there.

It may do, depends on how much health data you have. I have 2 1/2 years worth and it took too long for it all to download for me. I wasn't prepared to wait over to the next day to see if it completed downloading as I didn't want to risk losing any of my data/achievements (882 day move streak) so I baulked and used an iTunes backup. I wanted to setup my watch and phone from new so I ran the backup through Decipher Phone Refresh which allowed me to strip everything out of the backup and just restore my health data/achievements. Took just a couple of minutes and I have retained and continued my achievements.

Did your badges/achievements ever reappear?

I unpaired my Apple Watch from my iPhone 7 and paired it with an iPhone X. Set it up as a new watch, not from a backup. Daily activity/ring data and workout data are all showing up correctly in the iPhone Activity app (pulled from iCloud), but I am missing a bunch of achievements. Some achievements are showing up but most are not. Very annoying.

Hey, they did eventually show up. It took at least 24 hours of my phone being in Wi-Fi, so 1-2 days total. I noticed that in the iCloud Backup settings it still said "Restoring messages and media" so I had hope, and I just waited. After a few hours I noticed black spaceholders for certain achievements, and they eventually showed up. There really needs to be a better status bar for restores. All of my activity data came back as well except for 1 week (the week prior to my restore). I hope they show back up for you soon.
