Not sure what happened. I downloaded my music library, I'm a Music subscriber, everything was working until I was getting a '502' error when adding some more albums to my library, then the app froze, so I force quit it. Opened it back up, it tells me about 'AutoMix' (which was already on prior) and I clicked the button to clear the pop-up, the one that was red (I'm using dark mode 24/7 so buttons there are read vs blue) and then played around in settings and clicked the check box for 'download Dolby Atmos' and after that the AutoMix button became a 'crossfade' button but is not actionable (shows up above the 'queue') and neither is the infinity button to find similar songs after a playlist ends. It's there but also not actionable. There is no 'AutoMix' any longer in the Playback settings menu, only crossfade, and unchecking that does not fix it either. AutoMix is GONE for me now. WTF did I do wrong? How do I get it back?
I read online in forums and Reddit that AutoMix isn't compatible with Atmos, so that might have done it, but I expected higher quality so I didn't think anything of it enabling the download option for it, but now there seems to be ZERO setting to disable Atmos in Music now, the checkbox is gone too, and no such setting for Atmos exists in settings. Also a TON of songs that I've owned since the Napster days (uploaded to iCloud library ages ago back when I got my first MacBook Pro in 2012) are 'greyed out' and on iPhone, show grey with a cloud icon with an 'x' inside it. Tapping that song produces an error 'This song isn't synced across your devices' and suggest turning on Sync Library. I have. It's been on for years. Trying that on Mac, by switching it off and back on produces another error 'Your iCloud library couldn't be synced. An unknown error occurred (504) this message will clear in 30 seconds'
Somehow I borked Apple Music to an irrecoverable state and this isn't an app you can uninstall and reinstall, so this forces me to use my iPhone to play songs via Automix (which is still working on iPhone while remaining borked entirely on Mac as the option is simply missing!) Clearing cache and restarting the app gives the 'welcome to Apple Music' screen and attempts to restore library with the same error 504, and is still partially playable (random songs greyed out, no error on Mac it just skips them when attempting playback, on iPhone it gives the 'this isn't synced' message). AutoMix and AutoPlay are both gone and no such setting seems to exist in the preferences of it. All because I clicked 'download Dolby Atmos'.
Also I've spent hours deleting the greyed out songs and re-adding them back via Apple Music just so they'd play.
