Lost Bookmark Icons

For some reason, I have lost all the icons for my bookmarks to websites and now only have sidebar with the bookmark names. I have tried several methods described online but none worked. Has this happened to anyone else and of so, how did you get the icons back? I have a MacBook Pro Retina 13" model. Thanks
