After transferring my data from Mac Pro running Mohave to Mac mini running Ventura I overlooked an app. which Ventura can not open. Unfortunately it can not be updated and I can not replace any of the valuable information it contains. I'm afraid I haven't changed to another computer for ten years or more so I just followed the instructions on the new computer. I actually thought that the Migration Assistant would just copy the files over to the newer computer and that I could still use the Mac Pro if something happened to the mini. Is there any way at all that I can get back the data that was inside that app. I have already looked at the app on my Mac Pro but the app is now completely empty. Thanks

What app?

The valuable information on your Mac Pro was not touched by Migration Assistant. Migration Assistant just copies files from one computer to another. It doesn't delete. If I were you, I'd just restore the valuable information from a recent backup. But first, you have to figure out where your valuable information was stored. That's the type of help you can get by telling us what app it is.

Still, instead of sleuthing, I recommend you restore from backup.

Migration assistant doesn't "move" files -- it just copies them.
The original files should still be where they were.

As kit asks:
What APPLICATION is giving you problems?

Hmmm....
Let's dig a little deeper here.

OP:
When you migrated, did you use
"setup assistant", which runs the very first time you turn on a new Mac?
OR
Did you create a new account, then use "migration assistant" to bring over apps and data?

This could make a BIG difference.

I'm wondering if the OP did this:
- Turned on new MINI without connecting to the old Mac or backup first
- Then, used setup assistant to create a new account
- Then, used migration assistant "separately" to migrate his old data (and maybe his OLD account along with it)
- And now, while still logged into the NEW account, cannot find data because it "belongs to" the OLD account?
