Hi.

I don´t know if this is the right subforum for this question or even ¡f I´m breaking any copyright law with this, so please, if a moderator find this message not acceptable, I apologize.

I have bought an used Mac Pro with a copy of the Final cut Studio 2 suite. I have the original disks and manuals, but the previous owner did not provide any serial number with them. I do know that if you have a receipt, Apple can send a new serial number. I called the previous owner to ask him for a receipt, but he´s not responding my calls so I´m afraid I´ve been scammed.

Right now, the software is already installed, but I still want the serial in case I needed to re-install. Is there any way of finding the serial number in the software?

In the box and in the disks there is a number, but it does not look like a serial. If I call Apple and tell this number would them provide me a serial?

Thanks.

If it's already installed on the machine, all you have to do is launch FCP, and go to the Final Cut Pro menu > About Final Cut Pro. This will bring up the box that displays the version number and serial #. Write it down and put it with the discs.

Can FCS be sold if you have the original box, serial and receipt, even if it was registered at the time of install?

it would seem so,

3. Transfer. You may not rent, lease, lend or sublicense the Apple Software. You may, however, make a one-time permanent transfer of all of your license rights to the Apple Software to another party, provided that: (a) the transfer must include all of the Apple Software, including all its component parts, original media, printed materials and this License; (b) you do not retain any copies of the Apple Software, full or partial, including copies stored on a computer or other storage device; and (c) the party receiving the Apple Software reads and agrees to accept the terms and conditions of this License. All components of the Apple Software are provided as part of a bundle and may not be separated from the bundle and distributed as standalone applications.

but the bad news for the OP is if the SN was not supplied he was not sold the whole product.

OP already stated that it is installed on the computer, therefore he has the serial number on that. Assuming that the install is legit, he should be all set once he writes down the serial numbers from the version installed on the computer.
