Houston (duh)
I think it happened after the latest software update. I loved the 'floating photo' screensaver (the one with the photos raining down vertically on the screen). Now, it just does a blank screen. If I request a "preview" of the screensaver or let it time out. It's just blank.

It doesn't matter whether I have my photos or Apple's default photos selected either.

The slideshow screensaver still works, so I'm using that now, but want the other back!

Anyone else experiencing this?

I found that my screensaver wouldn't activate if I had my iPhone remote app open. I need to exit the app and sleep the phone before the screensaver will activate. Sounds like that's not your problem, but thought I'd mention it. I'd try a restore in your case.
