I Live Where I Live
so i lost my iphone and i just had a quick question.

i had the passcode feature enabled so my question would be how much information could an individual access with this feature on? say they plug it into a mac would iphoto open and allow them to import all the photos? and would itunes let them look at the device?

they will have to do a factory restore to use your iphone without the passcode

so it will return it to a factory fresh iphone

First, did you call your carrier and have them inactivate the SIM?

If the passcode was easy to guess then they would have access to everything. If your passcode was not easy to guess then they will do a restore and it will be ready for reuse. Please note that there are special tools that would allow an experienced individual to retrieve data from the the iPhone even after a restore or even bypass the password!

at&t has deactivated the phone and the pin code was not a simple "1234" or "4444" so i think that unless they're a hacker i should be alright...

The previous poster meant that they thought you could get the service provider to block or blacklist your iPhone 3G to prevent it being used by someone else.

However, AT&T does not block IMEIs and I dont' believe any other GSM carrier blocks IMEIs. :(

ah for sure. well at&t disable the sim card in the old one and its passcode protected... and i grabbed a new model to replace the old one today... so i really could care less if someone else could or couldn't use it as a phone (just worried about my personal data).

besides chances are i'll never see it again...:(
