Hi guys, my parter was working in a clothing shop and she is 99% certain that her phone accidentally dropped into a customers bag as she was packing it and only realised afterwards.

The phone is secured with a 4 pin code.

I have logged into Find My iPhone but annoyingly it was deactivated (possibly the kids changed the setting while playing with it) :(

I have tried calling it every 30 mins or so for 48 hours and the phone still rings, but no answer.
It was on silent and doesn't vibrate.
I guess the only way for me to communicate with the person that has it, is for them to pick up the phone when I am ringing.

We are hoping that the customer comes across the phone in the near future and thinks to take it to the shop.

I guess my question is - Is there any way to zap the phone of personal data if Find My Iphone is turned off?

Is there any other way to track its location?

If, heaven forbid, someone has it who wants to hack it, is this possible nowadays given that it has a 4 pin code?

Many thanks

J

It’s an odd situation. I’ve come across devices with find my disabled occasionally. Even mine was once. I was always under the impression that this was enabled by default.

Try placing you lost phone in Lost Mode from iCloud.com. You can also try “Erase This Device” from iCloud.com.

Can this be done with Find My iPhone disabled?

We have two factor authentication on, so I was also under the impression we can’t log into iCloud as such without the trusted device? Only able to use www.iCloud.com/findmy ?
