Lost Loops

I recorded 3 guitar tracks into GarageBand. However all the Apple Loops for that project are grayed out. If I open a new project (and then paste the recorded regions of the guitar tracks.... which is what I had to do) the loops appear. Any ideas as to what might have caused this?
