So long story short my MacBook Pro air label got “separated” from my box in route. The sticker ended up at facility to go on truck but on a different package. My box with computer is nowhere to be found.

fed ex out thier hands up and said it’s up to the shipper to deal with it which I find wonky.
So I call Apple. They said they can’t do anything till after delivery date which they show as the 9th even though fed ex says today and we already know it’s lost.
So my question. Apple says they have to invetstigaye after the 9th and then they can ship me a new one but won’t give me a time frame.
Since it’s obviously not my fault shouldn’t they ship me a new one after date it was to be delivered and do thier investigstion on thier one time vs mine?

I was just wondering if anyone here had a similar experience. I really feel someone at fed ex walked off with it. How does a label get moved from one box to another.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Definitely sounds like someone's misdoing.

I wouldn't worry too much, apart from the fact that your MacBook Pro will reach you a little later than expected once Apple issue you another one.

It usually is the case that it is the shipper's responsibility to deal with the shipping company when any such issues occur. Either way the package only becomes your responsibility once you have signed for it, until then it's Apple's.

I wonder what happens with the "misplaced" MacBook Pro, do Apple have a way of blocking it ?

I know Apple will take care of it but fed ex is just the worst! I don’t use them unless it’s out of my control. 75% of the time the item is damaged and 99.9% of the time the box is crushed!

If you're in a hurry just order a new one and then return the second one if it somehow turns up, or wait for a refund assuming it's lost. Advise Apple not to replace.

Thanks guys.
What I’m ticked out is Apple won’t do an investigation till 9th. It’s a random day they pulled out of the air. On none of my paperwork it says 9th. Only fed ex for today and original order of 12-19th for a date.

I don’t want to do a refund really cause I did the Barkley card and if I refund I have to wait forcthe money to get out back in cause the credit line is only for cost of computer. So it’s even more waiting I assume cause if I cx the order on 9th I won’t have finds back in for multiple days. They won’t let me cx it now.
And yes fed ex sucks. Last package that came from them said it was delivered at 12 and driver never dropped it off till 4. Dont the drivers post that it was delivered? So I think he was trying to make off like it was delivered but I happened to be home and called fed ex instantly. Got a call from the driver something something and he will be back at 4. I just don’t trust them.

This time of year it doesn't matter who the transport carrier is. UPS is just as bad as FedEx or any other. High value packages are going to be stolen either by some thieving worker or some neighborhood pass thru thief looking for packages on someone's front porch.

so i just got off with apple sales. . . i called to see about my apple care start date cause it is for dec 2nd and i don't even have a computer. got a nice guy. he said my first 2 calls were not even noted. he talked to a supervisor who looked at the fed ex tracking and saw that it said airmail bill received without package and said that is assumed lost so they can start the process now. i said are you sure? how do i know it will be started. said i should get an email in 24-48 hrs regarding it and it is all noted now. i said why then did the 2 girls i talked to first said i had to wait till the 9th and would not even look at the fed ex delivery dates or notes and i had to wait till the 9th. he didn't have an answer. so that's where i am. finally a decent person to talk to. i never had this issue on over 20 years with apple. i have owned many mac computers. i have had countless iPads and iPhone ordered through apple. this is just a nightmare. a first world problem but what makes it so bad is fed ex threw up their hands that they have nothing to do with it when it was them who caused this and that the first 2 girls from apple support were completely and utterly useless.

so lets see what happens by saturday.

Wow....after reading your posts I really feel bad for you. You are definitely being given the runaround. I would call BarclayCard and tell them what has transpired so that you won't be responsible for payment until your item is found or replaced by Apple. Apple uses Tech.com on their shipping boxes (rather than Apple.com) in an effort to discourage theft. But the bad guys have already figured out what Apple is doing. Not saying that your computer has been stolen but who really knows at this point. Hopefully you get a speedy resolution (in your favor of course). Good luck and keep those fingers crossed.

Yup, it sucks that this happened to you, but it sounds like Apple is now moving towards addressing this.

i said why then did the 2 girls i talked to first said i had to wait till the 9th and would not even look at the fed ex delivery dates or notes and i had to wait till the 9th. he didn't have an answer.

This is the downside of most customer service. Their directive is to follow procedures, not necessarily make the customer whole, and different managers will enforce the procedures differently, as they understand them. It's not easy getting 6 people to agree on a place for lunch, let alone hundreds of employees to agree on what the procedures actually mean.

a first world problem but what makes it so bad is fed ex threw up their hands that they have nothing to do with it when it was them who caused this

To FedEx, you aren't the customer. Apple is. They answer to Apple, and even to Apple they would say something like "this is what insurance is for". As someone said, it's treated as Apple's property until it's delivered. There's interesting legal implications if FedEx were to declare it your property once it is in their hands that make things more complicated.

And the reality is that expecting them (or really any shipping company) to admit fault in a shipping incident is like pulling teeth. It's not fun for anyone involved. It can also potentially have implications on how the shipping insurance is handled if the shipping company admits fault, I would bet.

FedEx has screwed up a lot lately. I ordered a refurb 13" Macbook Pro in October and they lost it. What makes that remarkable is I live five miles from Apple's warehouse. It litearlly went 60 miles away to the depot and disappeared. Never even left Southern California.

A month later here I am waiting on a toaster oven that I ordered on black friday that somehow got lost between New Jersey and Illinois. They have no idea where it is.

Fed ex blows. Period. I never got the email from Apple saying it’s in the investigstion teams hands. I called this morning to ask about the email. They said I should have got it. So I said I’m kinda paranoid at this point that it didn’t even go to the investigation team. He said it was. I pretty much told them to note that I expect at least a call or email to what is going on even if not an answer within the 48 hrs they said it takes. I said after 72 hours if I didn’t even get something saying hey we need another day then I’m calling the credit card company and stoping payment and I’m out. I don’t expect a computer instantly or an answer instantly but at least just someone saying we r on it. Give us a day.

So I actually just got an email they r replacing my computer.
Says next day shipping once it ships. Guess it’s not coming from China. Lol. If so I would like to see the logistics of that. Lol

I am very surprised I got an email already being the first 2 reps from apple didn’t even help me what so ever. I guess mike and Marcus who helped me last night and this morning must have really helped me out. Marcus was really nice and helpful. I think he genuinely felt bad for me. So I’m thankful for them.
I got a question. It’s the same order number. I figured it would be different. What about my Apple care. The email had the start date and the serial of lost computer. Do I call them about getting the Apple care switched over with a new start date or does it happen automatically? Anyone have any experience?

thanks for listening everyone. I just wanted to post this here for maybe others who experience this some day but I hope you don’t have to.

They r good computers. I mean in past 18 years I have bought 2 MacBook pros for work. My forst one is being used still by a secretary I work with. Does what it needs to do. It’s a 15 inch titanium. The heat monster. The other I still use. At home this will be my second. The one I’m using now is 10 years old 15 inch and it’s perfect except the hard drive is only 128 gb and just can’t keep up with my pictures for my photo hobby so that’s why I decided to buy a new one and I’ll use that computer for work and bench my other 15 inch pro.
My new one I did the i9 with the 8gb video card, 32gb of ram and a 2tb hd. Should last me for well over 10 hrs I assume.

I’m a little worried about Catalina and Lightroom playing nice together but I have no choice and will just roll with updates to bugs I guess.

thanks again for listening and helping.

Thats the worst thing you can do. It'll mess up their logistics and could possibly interfere with their investigation. They'll see you signed for a MBP and could delay things and consider it fraudulent. They'll see you have a MBP in hand and think everything is fine and resolved itself. Rushing things doesn't always help.

Sorry you're in this situation, but FedEx is the best of a bunch of bad shipping options.

As far as your replacement, I would definitely buy another one.

FedEx won't confuse them and if you're that worried, send the device to an Apple Store.

I posted above a new one is coming already. I got an email they r replacing it. I was going to do a refund or ship it to a store but closest store is 80 miles from me and I really don’t feel like taking time out of my day for something as simple as getting a package from point a to point b in 2019. I’m just waiting for the new one to ship.
