hey macrumor,

last night at around 8pm, i backed up my phone and then synced it with my computer, but at around 12am, i realized that all my contacts were gone! it was replaced by the contacts on my mac.

i went downstairs to my laptop to try to restore the previously backed up file at 8pm, but when i plugged in my phone, my mac automatically backed up my phone at 12am. i've tried to go to itunes>preferences>devices to restore the 8pm file, but i was unable to locate it. i'm only able to see the 12pm back up file which contains my mac contacts. i need the 8pm file which contains my phone contacts.

i tried searching online for help, and came across websites such as http://supercrazyawesome.com/ and http://www.iphonebackupextractor.com/ but im unable to restore my phone.

please help me. is there any way i can retrieve my 8pm file?

not sure if this might help, but a week ago, i installed io5 on my iphone, and i presume this automatically backs up my phone as well. this could be a reset point as well if anyone knows how to retrieve it.

Sorry to say, but as far as I know iTunes only keeps the latest backup of your iPhone. The other ones would have been replaced...
