My new iphone 4s has just decided that it needs restoring, so I have restored it, all my pics are still there, all my recent calls are still there, but all my contacts have gone!! all my recent calls are just numbers, no names, anyway of getting my contacts back?

Just go to your local carriers store they'll help you get your stuff back. I know AT&T and Verizon help out. Then once you get everything back create a google account and tell the rep to sync your contacts with google. If the rep is cool he'll do it for you.

OP, please don't do this.

Store reps are first and foremost salespeople, not customer service people. They usually know less about a device than someone who's spent 5 minutes Googling it.

If you were not sync-ing your contacts with anything outside the phone prior to the restoral, they are most likely gone.
 
that is why you save your contacts on your computer or somewhere else...
