Yesterday, we had to put our dog down. He was 12.5 years old. He was a Christmas gift to my daughter in 1999. My entire family was there to say goodbye.
RIP Cocoa.
Sorry to hear that. My first dog is 6, my second is 4, and I don't know what I'm going to do when that time comes...probably cease to function for a solid week.
I am not ashamed to say I would probably do that too. My dog is part of the family.
Who ever marked you post down OP clearly doesn't own a dog.
Sorry for your loss and its never nice to out an animal down, especially something as loyal as a dog.
So we made the choice to give him an easier death.
Take your time grieving, then jump right back on that horse.![]()
My son was born in July 2000.
My son, who is 11, said a couple of interesting things yesterday.
First, he said, "I have never not had a dog." We got Cocoa in December 1999 as a gift for his older sister. My son was born in July 2000. Got the rest of the family crying again when he said that.
Later that day he said, "I know what I want for my birthday." We all had a good laugh over that.
That is about right, In fact it took a good year to get over it for me. I don't think you can rush into getting another pet so soon after. My average has seemed to be 3 year spans in between.Sorry to hear that. My first dog is 6, my second is 4, and I don't know what I'm going to do when that time comes...probably cease to function for a solid week.
