iPhone 6(S)/Plus Lost my photos from my iphone can I put them back from external drive

The photos got permanently deleted off my iPhone, they cannot be recovered via the recently recovered feature, I tried that.

However, I did copy them via image capture to an external hard drive.

Can I copy them back onto the iPhone camera roll so they can be there like before?
